METHODS AND CONSTRUCTION
The laboratory water distiller is designed and analyzed using individual resources, Central Washington University resources and personnel. Some of the project's parts like carbon filter housing, carbon filter holder has been manufactured in the Mechanical Engineering Lab. Other parts like boiling tank liner and other joints has been welded while some has been purchased and assembled.
Design Considerations
To fabricate the water distiller that would work effectively, the following design considerations should be met:
Material selection: Stainless steel sheet.
-
Resistance to corrosion
-
Durability
-
Good thermal conductivity
-
Resistance to chemical attack
-
Good ductility
-
Good machinability
The design of the unit is the largely art in which different parts/components must be accommodated. Technical requirements must also be met in order to succeed in this project. Some of the important design parameters are:
Strength, appearance, cost to manufacture, weight, durability, size and stiffness.

Distiller specifications
